Applying on SEEK? Match the ad first.

Paste your CV and the SEEK listing. In about twenty seconds you get a match score out of 100, the exact phrases from the ad your CV is missing, and the single change that would close the biggest gap. No signup, no card, and nothing you paste is kept.

Plain text is fine, and you can leave out your phone number and address.

Why a SEEK application is worth checking separately

SEEK is where most Australian hiring managers advertise, and it's usually the first place a candidate search or filter runs. That makes the exact words a listing uses matter more than they look, whether the ad was written by a recruiter or the hiring manager themselves.

We don't have access to SEEK's own systems, and we don't claim to replicate whatever ranking or search it runs internally. What this page measures is the thing every version of that process has in common: how well your CV's language reflects the ad's language. See the full guide to tailoring a CV for SEEK for the method worked through step by step.

Five things that improve a SEEK application

In roughly the order they tend to matter.

01

Use the ad's own headings

SEEK listings often group requirements under headings like "About you" or "What you'll bring". Mirror that grouping in your CV's skills section, in the ad's own words.

02

Match the exact phrasing

If the ad says "stakeholder engagement" and your CV says "working with clients", a keyword search may not connect the two, even though you mean the same thing.

03

Don't rely on one CV for every SEEK application

The same CV sent to ten different SEEK ads will score differently against every one of them. Tailoring per ad is the entire point of checking.

04

Spell out registrations and licences

AHPRA registration, a current licence, a Working with Children Check. SEEK ads list these as "essential" for a reason, and an implied credential is easy to miss.

05

Keep the format simple

Single column, real text, standard headings. However the ad reads, whatever parses your application will still lose content trapped in tables or text boxes.

Common questions

Does this replicate SEEK's own ranking or algorithm?

No, and we don't claim to. We have no access to SEEK's internal systems. This measures how closely your CV's language matches the specific ad's language, which is the thing you can actually control, whichever system is reading it on the other end.

Is this checker really free?

Yes. One check per day, no account and no card. Nothing you paste is stored. A free CVelo account adds one full application analysis a month with every missing keyword, unlimited re-scoring on that application, a cover letter, and one typed interview practice session.

Will you store or share my CV?

The free check on this page does not save your CV. Your text is sent to our AI provider for scoring and is not kept by us. It is never sold, never shared with employers, and never used to train AI.

Does this only work for SEEK ads?

No. It works for any Australian job ad, from SEEK, LinkedIn, a company careers page or a government portal. This page exists because most of our visitors are tailoring for a SEEK listing specifically.

What's different about applying through SEEK?

SEEK ads are often written by the hiring manager rather than a recruiter, so the exact phrasing varies more than on a templated ad, and SEEK is usually the first thing a candidate search or filter runs against. That makes matching the ad's own words, not just its general topic, matter more than it looks.
