CVelo is built and written by Naomi Shiels, in Australia. Not a recruitment agency, not a content farm, and not a team of anonymous writers. One person, which is worth being upfront about, because it tells you exactly how much weight to give what you read here.

I write for a living outside this too, as a published author. That is the honest extent of the credential: I am a builder and a writer who has read a very large number of Australian job advertisements and selection criteria, not a recruiter and not an HR practitioner.
Everything about a formal process comes from the body that runs it, not from other people's blog posts. Selection criteria and APS material comes from the Australian Public Service Commission and from the agencies' own role descriptions. Registration requirements come from AHPRA and the relevant national board. Graduate programs and health recruitment come from the state health service running them. Where a guide turns on a licence, a registration or an eligibility rule, it links to the primary source so you can check it yourself.
Examples in the guides are composites, built from the patterns that recur across real applications. They are labelled as such. No real applicant's CV is ever reproduced here.
A number of figures circulate in this industry that cannot be traced to any published study. The most common is a claim that a specific percentage of CVs are automatically rejected by recruitment software before a human sees them. CVelo used to repeat one of those figures and no longer does, because the source could not be found.
The standard here is simple: if a number appears on this site, it is either cited to something you can open and read, or it does not go in. A weaker claim that is true beats a strong one that is not.
Rules change. Registration requirements, classification levels and application processes all move, and a guide that was right in March can be wrong by September. Guides carry a publication date, and a visible updated date once they have been revised.

The free checker does not store what you paste into it. For account holders, CV text is stored so you can come back to it, and it is never sold and never shared with employers. We never use it to train AI, and our AI providers are contractually barred from doing so. The privacy policy is the full version, and it is worth reading before you upload anything anywhere, here included.
