What CVelo does
You paste your CV and a job ad. CVelo compares the two and shows you what the ad asks for that your CV does not yet evidence, then, on Pro, rewrites your CV and writes a cover letter for that specific role. Separately, it checks selection criteria answers and APS pitches against the standard they are actually judged on, runs a typed or spoken mock interview with scored feedback, translates ADF ranks and roles into civilian equivalents, and researches a company before an interview.
Every one of those is built on a large language model reading text you supply. Nothing here has access to an employer's systems, your referees, or anyone else's application.
What the score measures, and what it does not
The match score compares your CV against one job ad: how well the ad's requirements and language are evidenced in your document. It is not a simulation of any employer's applicant tracking system, and it does not predict whether you will be shortlisted. Nothing can predict that, because it depends on who else applied, internal candidates, referee checks and budget decisions that no CV-reading tool can see.
The full breakdown of what moves the score is here, including why the number can move a few points between identical runs and the specific statistic (the "75% of CVs are auto-rejected" claim) CVelo will not repeat.
How suggestions are generated, and why you must check every one
Every rewrite, cover letter and interview answer is built under one rule that overrides everything else in the prompt: use only facts already in your CV or in the answers you gave, never add, upgrade or invent an employer, title, date, number, qualification, licence or clearance, and where the source is silent, leave it out rather than fill the gap. A missing keyword means the model will not claim you have that experience, even when adding it would raise your score.
That rule is enforced twice: once in the instructions the model is given, and again by a second automated check that compares the finished text against your CV and flags anything it cannot support, before you ever see it. You will see that check's result as a note under your rewritten CV and cover letter, showing exactly what, if anything, was corrected.
Neither check replaces you. Language models make mistakes, and a document you did not read carefully is a document you cannot defend if an interviewer asks about it. Read every suggestion before you send anything.
How interview practice works
CVelo generates questions for the specific company, role and job description, then scores your typed or spoken answer out of 10 against strengths, gaps and keywords to include. Voice answers are transcribed and scored the same way as typed ones.
The model answer shown alongside your score is a structure to learn from, built from the situation, actions and outcome you already gave in your own answer, not a script to repeat. Where your answer lacked a specific result, the model answer shows a placeholder rather than inventing one, because a number you cannot back up in the room is worse than not having one.
What company research does and does not verify
A company report is compiled by AI from a live web search on the company name and role, not from your CV or the job ad text. Every source listed under a report is a real page the search actually returned, never a citation the model claims to have used, and you can open every one of them.
It is a preparation aid, not verified due diligence. Sources can be incomplete, outdated or simply wrong, and the report can be out of date the moment a company announces something new. Check anything you plan to say in an interview against the sources themselves or the company's own site, and treat the suggested questions as prompts to adapt, not lines to read out.
When to see a real person instead
CVelo is built for one job: helping you present your real, true experience clearly against a specific role. It is not the right tool for everything adjacent to that.
- ▸A career change or long-term strategy question. Go to a career adviser or coach knows your full history and goals; CVelo only sees one CV and one ad at a time.
- ▸Whether a role, offer or negotiation is fair. Go to a recruiter working that market has current, comparable data CVelo does not.
- ▸Employment contracts, visas, discrimination or a dispute. Go to a lawyer or the Fair Work Ombudsman, not an AI tool, however confident the wording sounds.
- ▸Professional registration, licensing or eligibility rules. Go to the regulator that actually runs the scheme (AHPRA, the relevant licensing board, or the agency itself) is the only authority on whether you qualify.
- ▸Whether to accept or resign from a role. Go to that decision is yours, informed by people who know your full circumstances, not a CV scoring tool.
Common questions
Does CVelo write my CV for me?+
It rewrites what you give it. Every suggestion, bullet and summary is built from your existing CV and the answers you give it, never from a template achievement or an invented fact. If your CV does not say something, CVelo will not add it.
Can I trust the output without checking it?+
No, and CVelo's own copy says so at every point it generates something you might send: the fact-check note on your rewritten CV and cover letter, the caveat on company reports, and the caption on interview coach sample answers. You are the last check before anything goes to an employer.
What does CVelo not do?+
It does not simulate a specific employer's applicant tracking system, does not predict whether you will be shortlisted, does not verify your qualifications, and does not replace legal, financial or migration advice. See below for when to see a real person instead.
